Structure Fire - Mutual Aid to Pleasant Valley
Thu. Mar 14th 2013

Roosevelt 63-45 along with 63-11 & 63-12 responded mutual to a structure fire on South Quaker Lane with  the Pleasant Valley FD.  On arrival of the first members they had smoke pushing from every roof vent and windows were already blackened down showing signs of high heat and fire in the building.  A second alarm was transmitted and first in crews made a valiant effort to make entry into the building to try and search the origin of the fire.

The fire was dispatched at 1348 hours bringing all Pleasant Valley equipment with immediate mutual aid of the Roosevelt equipment.  Quick searches and inquiries made if evident that the house was unoccupied. Firefighters remained on scene til about 1900 hours as they overhauled and finished up investigation of the cause.

There was a tense moment about 10 minutes into the initial fire attack when a Mayday call was sounded for a down firefighter that fell through the second floor into the first floor,  but he self extricated himself from the building before the FAST Team could enter into the structure.  The firefighter suffered only minor bumps and bruises, with on scene treatment required only.

The fire eventually went to 3rd alarm with assistance at scene or coverage of station coming from Fairview, Arlington, Millbrook, East Clinton, West Clinton, LaGrange, Hughsonville, Staatsburg, Union Vale, Mobile Life EMS, Hyde Park Police, Dutchess County Sherriff and Dutchess County DER Fire Investigation Division.
