2nd Alarm Fire at Hyde Park Heights Apartments m/a Hyde Park Fire Dept.
Sun. Jun 18th 2017

Roosevelt firefighters assisted this morning with a mutual aid 2nd alarm fire at the Hyde Park Heights Apartments at 107 East Market Street in the Hyde Park Fire District.  Roosevelt Engine 63-13 & 63-14, along with ESS 63-51 were called to assist this morning.  63-14 and 63-51 were to the scene and 63-13 relocated to the Hyde Park Fire Station for stand-by duty.

A fire in Building A at the complex was found by first arriving firefighters this morning around 0835 hrs. in an upstairs apartment extending to the attic space rapidly.  Members of the Fairview Fire District and Hyde Park firefighters were first in and were able to darken the fire down quickly and slow to spread to the attic space.  Roosevelt firefighters along with Staatsburg members were assigned to assist in getting a water supply set up and get additional attack lines into place to prepare for the worst.

Once the first in Hyde Park and Fairview crews were brought out for rehab, others from Roosevelt, Staatsburg and City of Poughkeepsie were put into work on overhaul, salvage, ventilation among some of the details assigned to help mitigate the fire and it's advancement.

A great job was done by all involved, hats off to the first arriving crews for hitting it hard from the yard and then going into the building to mop up the remaining fires. The fire was under control within an hour and crews remained to make sure no pockets were still burning before all were cleared from the scene around 1130 this morning.  The fire is under investigation by the Dutchess County Dept. of Emergency Response Fire Investigation Team.  1 occupant was transported to local hospital for burns to his hands and 3 others were treat and released at scene by EMS,  no firefighters were injured in the fire.
