Large Commercial Building Fire - 3rd Alarm
Thu. Mar 7th 2019

Roosevelt firefighters, along with 1 Engine from Pleasant Valley FD were dispatched this morning to a report of a Automatic Fire Alarm at 501 Salt Point Road.  Within a couple minutes of being dispatched to this call a passing Pleasant Valley Fire Dept. firefighter contacted the PVFD Chief advising him he was on scene and there was an active fire in the building.  That chief immediately contacted DC911 dispatch to update them of a actual fire, which DC911 then redispatched as such upgrading the alarm to fill out the assignment.

About 2-3 minutes after that, the Pleasant Valley chief was then on scene and confirming a active fire throughout the structure with fire starting to break through the roof already,  he then requested a 2nd alarm to the incident.  Upon arrival a the 1st Roosevelt FD chief, a 3rd alarm was transmitted to the alarm bringing more resources, manpower and equipment to the scene, as well to cover the area stripped.

The building was heavily damage by fire and it remains under investigation by the Dutchess County Fire Investigation Team, NYS OFPC and Dutchess County Sheriffs Office.  Fire Departments on scene or on stand-by were Roosevelt, Pleasant Valley, Fairview, City of Poughkeepsie, Hyde Park, New Hamburg, West Clinton, East Clinton, Millbrook, LaGrange, Arlington, East Fishkill, Hillside, EmStar EMS. Assisting agencies were DC FID, NYS OFPC, DCDER, City of Poughkeepsie Police, Town of Poughkeepsie Police, Hyde Park Police,  DCSO.
