Roosevelt FD responds to assist Fairview FD at Star Gas building Fire
Mon. Jun 17th 2019

Multiple agencies responded to a second alarm of fire at the Star Gas facility at 33 Fulton Street today.  Fairview FD was dispatched to the location for report of a fire coming from the building, with multiple reports being received by DC911. Fairview responded at 4:19pm and arrived on scene approximately 3 minutes later to find heavey dark smoke coming from the building used to store and repair the Star Gas Co. vehicles.

Immediately the on duty officer in charge sounded the call for a sedon alarm of fire.  This brought in additional help from neighboring departments to help attack the fire.  The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes according to Chief Maeder in a report seen in the Poughkeepsie Journal.  Chief Maeder also reported 1 minor injury to a firefighter, who was treated and then later released.

The fire is under investigation by the Fairview Fire District, the Dutchess County Cause & Origin Team.  Fairview firefighters were assisted on scene by the Roosevelt, City of Poughkeepsie, LaGrange, New Hamburg, Hughsonville and Arlington Fire Departments.  Pleasant Valley FD stood-by with an Engine in the Fairview fire station to cover any additional calls during the time of this fire. Other agencies involved in the call were Mobile Life Support EMS, Town of Poughkeepsie Police, Town of Poughkeepsie Building Department, Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response and Dutchess County Sheriffs Office.

Special thanks to the Poughkeepsie Journal and to the Mid-Hudson News for the photos.
